Yes, dresses can generally be altered to fit better. If a dress is too large, we can take in the seams, especially around the waist, bust, and hips. If it’s too small, we can let out the seams, though this is sometimes limited depending on the fabric and available extra material.
It’s helpful to bring the shoes you plan to wear with the dress, along with any undergarments, such as a bra or shapewear, especially for dresses with fitted bodices or straps. This ensures the alterations are made to suit your final look.
At your appointment, you will choose your collection date using our in-house system. We also offer same-day alterations or next-day services if required. You will receive an automated text or email with your order number and fitting date. Once your dress is ready for a fitting, our system will automatically notify you via text or email. Alternatively, you can track your order anytime using our online status checker . If your dress is completed ahead of schedule, you’ll have the option to collect it sooner.
You do not need to arrive at a specific time to collect your dress. However, please ensure you have received an automated text message or email confirming your dress is ready before visiting to try it on. Yes, for £20, we can ship your dress via DPD for next-day delivery, Monday to Friday. Once your dress is ready, you’ll receive a text message from DPD with the delivery day and a one-hour time slot, so you’ll know exactly when to expect it. If you require same-day delivery, we can arrange shipping via Addison Lee within a 5-mile radius of our locations for £50.
In urgent cases, we offer a same day alterations or next-day service, ensuring your garment is altered and returned to you promptly. Simply inform us of your requirements during your visit, and we will ensure your garment is ready when you need it.
Unfortunately, we only offer tailoring services. We do not provide a cleaning service and are unable to recommend one.

You can use the Order Status checker. When we create your order during your first visit, our computer system will send you an automated text/email confirming your order number and fitting or collection date. Once your dress is ready for collection, our system will automatically send you a text/email to notify you that your order is ready. This means that if we finish the work ahead of schedule, you will have the option to collect your order sooner.
Absolutely - you can change the fitting date yourself online using the change appointment link or you can send us an email and we can do it for you.
If you want to change your order - you should contact as soon as possible by email or phone. Despite us agreeing on a collection date with you we may start the work immediately after the order is taken so changes are not always possible if we have already started the work.
Unfortunately, we do not permit the consumption of food and drink at the appointment due to the risk of spillage which can make contact with clothing.
We understand you have a busy life but we recommend you try on your dress when you collect so that we can be absolutely sure everything is correct. If you do not have the time you can return within 14 days and we will repeat the work for you free of charge. Note that we will only repeat the work agreed on your order form.
The customer is under an obligation to collect their dress on the agreed collection date stated on their order form. If you want to change the collection date you can do so by using the change appointment link. Uncollected items may be disposed of after 90 days from the agreed collection date. Alterations Boutique Ltd, in such an event, will take reasonable steps to contact the customer using the contact details provided at the time the order was placed. If we are unable to contact the customer, we will not be held liable for any loss the customer may suffer.
Yes - you can send a courier or friend to collect your dress They should provide your order number, name and telephone number or we will be unable to release the order to them. Please note we recommend you collect the dress yourself so you can check the order has been carried out correctly in accordance with your instructions. If you cannot you may return the dress to re-altered or repaired within 14 days from the time of collection.
If you’re unable to visit one of our locations in person, we offer a convenient mail-in option for repairs only. Please note, we are unable to offer a dress alterations service by post, as our trained tailors need to take accurate measurements. To get started, simply follow these steps: 1. Send Your Item: Mail your dress to us using a tracked service to: Alterations Boutique, 14 New Quebec Street, London W1H 7RS. Please ensure you include a covering letter with your contact details and a clear description of the repairs you’d like us to carry out. 2. Payment and Quote: After we assess your dress, we’ll contact you with a quote for the repair work. Once you’ve agreed to the price, we’ll proceed with the repairs. 3. Return Shipping: Once the dress repairs are completed, we’ll send the dress back to you. Shipping costs apply, and we offer both standard and express delivery options.
